  • Q:        What time is arrival and pick up?

    A:         Our arrival times are flexible. The arrival time is set by you when your schedule a program.  Pick up is immediately after the program. Most of our programs are 4 hours in length.  Some programs are 5 hours in length.  The length of a program can be tailored to meet your need. 

     

    Q:        What should my child bring?

    A:         Face mask.  SPF 30+ sun block (apply at home). Water bottle to stay hydrated. Brown bag lunch. 

     

    Q:        What should my child wear?

    A:         During the cold season, long underwear, pants, t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, waterproof jacket, boots, and a hat for warmth.

    Note: approximately 80% of our body heat is lost through an uncovered head.

     

    During the warm season, pants, t-shirt, sweatshirt, closed toe shoes, cap.  Shorts may be worn in hot weather.

    If there is a chance of rain, bring rain gear!

     

    Q:        What is your rain policy?

    A:        Inclement Weather Policy 

    We run all our programs unless there is a threat of severe weather.  In the event of heavy rain and snow, you may reschedule prior to 12 p.m. one day prior to your scheduled program without incurring any fees.  For cancellations, please send an email with your name, tile, phone number and trip number to cancellationenviroed@nasboces.org before 12p.m. the day before your program is scheduled. You will receive an email confirming your cancelation*Notifications received after 12:00 p.m. will incur the naturalist fee as their schedules cannot be changed.  

     Q:        Who do I contact to cancel or reschedule?

    A:        Cancelation Policy or to Reschedule a Program 

    In the case that you need to cancel or reschedule please call the office at 516-396-2264 at least two weeks prior to your scheduled date.  Please send an email with your name, tile, phone number and trip number to cancellationenviroed@nasboces.org before 12p.m. the day before your program is scheduled.  In the case of a cancelation, you will receive a confirmation email.   *Notifications received after 12:00 p.m. will incur the naturalist fee as their schedules cannot be changed. 

     

    Q:        What is your food/lunch policy?

    A:         Our sites have picnic tables for students to eat.  Students must bring their own lunch.  You may also have food delivered.  

     

    Q:        Can parents attend?

    A:         Yes, parents are always welcome.  We encourage all adults to join in on the fun.

     

    Q:        Are there ticks at the site?

    A:         Ticks are found on Long Island including school yards and backyards. We recommend tucking light colored pants into white socks to keep ticks outside the clothing. Groups stay clear of known tick areas and program participants are visually checked individually during and at the end of the programs.
