NYS Elementary Science Investigations Training

In the Fall of 2022, the New York State Education Department released the Science Elementary and Intermediate Investigations.  These Investigations go hand in hand with the Written Science Assessments for Grade 5 and 8.  

To help prepare districts, we are offering the following training session. 

Elementary Investigation Exploration Workshop

Please join the OHM 91麻豆精品 Science Center and 91麻豆精品 in a workshop that will provide educators with information about the NYS Elementary Investigations. Grade 5 students should complete all four Investigations prior to taking the new science assessment administered from April 8 - May 17, 2024.

During this workshop, teachers will rotate through four sessions to learn how to implement the four elementary Investigations: What's in the Bag, Light It Up, Circle of Life and Cloud in a Bottle. Attendees are asked to bring printed Teacher and Student materials.

The workshop will include:

• Training on conducting the NYS Elementary Investigations (bulk of workshop)
• OHM kit materials - discussion of the materials needed if teachers wish to source materials themselves
• Tips for teachers to implement the Investigations (purpose and expectations, time required, items to make things run smoother with students, etc.)

Districts are strongly encouraged to bring at least one representative from each building to turnkey the training. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
